BENTAYGA A

Overview

The Bentayga A is a luxury SUV created for people who seek a little extra refinement. Building on the generous specification of the Bentayga model, it adds a number of handcrafted features that raise the bar in terms of prestige and travelling comfort.

Powered by the same choice of either a 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine or a 3.0 litre hybrid powertrain, it gives you all the power you expect from a Bentley alongside incredible off-road capability and a suite of cutting edge technology.

Design

The ‘A’ badges instantly identify the car, however they are not the only remarkable exterior detail. Each of its 21” wheels feature five pairs of bright machined spokes, separated by pockets painted grey to add a sense of depth. At the front, an imposing chrome vertical-vaned grille makes the prestige of this model clear.

Inside, you will see ‘A’ emblems on the treadplates, the open-pore Crown Cut Walnut fascia and the seats. The upholstery features a fluted design that can be optionally upgraded to Bentley’s Harmony Diamond Quilting. The Colour Specification is included as standard, which means you can choose from Bentley’s full range of leathers, colour layouts and carpet colours.

In many cases, sustainable materials have been used, not only for the open-pore veneers but also in the case of the recycled Nylon carpets and the wool mix used for the overmats.

As with every Bentley, the attention to detail throughout the cabin is astounding. Even the graphics in the driver’s information panel have been designed to reflect the car’s luxurious status.

Performance

There is a choice of two powertrains: a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine or a hybrid, which pairs a 3.0 litre petrol engine with a single turbocharger with an advanced electric motor. Both deliver the exhilarating performance you expect from a Bentley, with the V8 offering a little more power and the hybrid offering the opportunity to reduce your emissions.

The V8 produces 542 bhp (550 PS) and 770 Nm. That’s enough to take you from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds), with top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).

With the V8, you will also get the 48-volt Bentley Dynamic Ride anti-roll system, for added stability when cornering and a remarkably refined ride the rest of the time. You will also get all-wheel steering, which shrinks the turning circle at low speeds and improves stability when changing lanes at higher speeds.

The hybrid offers 456 bhp (462 PS), acceleration from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds) and a top speed of 158 mph (254 km/h) – as well as the opportunity to complete many urban journeys on electric power alone.

Technology

For a large SUV, the Bentayga A is incredibly easy to manoeuvre and satisfying to drive, thanks in part to its incredible performance, but also to a range of driver assistance systems that come as standard.

It can identify parking spaces and help you park – and if it looks like the space is so tight that it will be difficult for you to exit the vehicle, you can get out beforehand and execute the parking manoeuvre using the My Bentley app on your smartphone.

Other manoeuvres are made safer thanks to a 360° view of the car that can give you different perspectives, plus a system that alerts you to any impending bumps or scrapes – useful when manoeuvring in spaces such as multi-storey car parks.

Inside, there is a smart air conditioning system that constantly monitors the quality of the air inside and outside the vehicle, filtering out harmful particles and ensuring that the air everyone breathes in the cabin is of the highest quality. It can even tell if you are about to enter or exit a tunnel.

The rear seats offer truly unique benefits, thanks to two groundbreaking features, available for the first time in the standard wheelbase Bentayga: Postural Adjust and Seat Auto Climate.

Postural Adjust allows a series of air pockets beneath the seat to imperceptibly inflate and deflate throughout your journey, gently altering the levels of pressure on different parts of your body to prevent fatigue and stiffness setting in.

Seat Auto Climate uses sensors to measure the heat and humidity at the surface of the seat and adjust the seat’s built-in heating and ventilation levels, automatically – so you remain feeling comfortable and fresh, no matter how long you sit in the car.

Personalisation

When you choose a Bentayga A, there are a huge number of options you can select to make it your own. There are seven standard exterior colours, plus a much wider extended range of optional colours, as well as Mulliner Paints – which include the stunning new colour, Topaz Blue.

You can opt to change the chrome exterior detailing to black with the Blackline Specification, and add a carbon fibre bodykit with the Styling Specification, both of which will give your car a more sporty look.

Inside, you can choose from Bentley’s entire range of carpet colours, hide colours and cabin colour layouts – all offered as standard, thanks to the inclusion of the Colour Specification. You can choose from four standard veneers – high-gloss and open-pore versions of Crown Cut Walnut plus two other open-pore woods – as well as a range of optional high gloss woods and technical finishes such as Carbon Fibre.

Even the sound system is subject to your preferences, with the Bentley Signature Audio system installed as standard, and the Bang and Olufsen for Bentley and Naim for Bentley systems available if you prefer.

This is just a taste of the options available when you choose the Bentayga A. To learn more about your options, please contact us here at Bentley St Peter today.
